Body Sugaring by Rebecca Booth

COMING JANUARY, 2024

Say goodbye to unwanted body hair and hello to radiant, smooth skin, as you experience a luxurious sugaring session with Rebecca at Kinetics Bodies In Motion.

While it might sound like some sort of confectionary activity, Sugaring is actually a form of hair removal, that has been around since the time of the Pharaohs and the Great Pyramids. The name for this procedure actually comes from the paste its self, which is made form a combination of water, sugar and lemon juice. These ingredients are combined and then heated to produce a soft, candy like consistency, which can be applied to the skin at a much lower temperature than wax. This reduces the risk of burns and skin irritation.  Scroll down to book your appointment now!

In my humble opinion, Sugaring is a superior method of hair removal to waxing for few reasons:

  • Sugar paste is applied against the direction of hair growth, allowing it to seep into the pores where it can envelop the entire hair shaft. The hair is then removed with a few flicks of the wrist, in the same direction of hair growth. This technique is opposite to the application of wax, which is applied in the direction of hair growth and removed against it. As such, waxing has a tendency to cause hair breakage which can lead to the occurrence of pesky ingrown hairs.

  • Sugar past is water soluble and will not adhere to the skin (due to the significant amount of water within skin cells), so it only removes hair. Waxing on the other hand, adheres to the skin and can cause more pain and irritation when removed.

  • Sugaring provides light exfoliation to the skin, removing the dead skin cells that sit on the surface along with the hair, to reveal a smooth, polished, glowing surface.

  • Sugar paste is all natural, hypoallergenic, and does not contain preservatives or chemicals and is great for sensitive skin.

  • Sugaring produces less waste than traditional waxing since it does not require the use of strips or wood  spatulas and one ball of sugar paste can typically be used throughout your appointment, although some exceptions do apply.
